John Argentine Campbell (Honnechy 59)

John Argentine Campbell (20 October 1877 - 2 December 1917) was an Argentine born Scottish rugby union player. He was killed in World War I.



Campbell played for West of Scotland FC and was capped for Scotland in 1900.

He also represented the Argentina national cricket team, in a first-class match against the Marylebone Cricket Club in 1912.



John Campbell, by then in his late thirties, volunteered in 1915 and was commissioned into the Inniskilling Dragoons, incidentally a polo-playing regiment. As a 40-year-old.
Lieutenant, he was wounded, taken prisoner on 1 December 1917, and died of his wounds on 2 December 1917 in Germany, and is buried in Honnechy British Cemetery.
